Buhari Vindicated Himself When He Told A BBC Journalist Why He Won't Take World Bank Advice -According to Lawal

Professor Emeritus Ibrahim Lawal, a retired NIPSS director and an elder statesman from Adamawa state, has said that the current administration’s economic crisis is a direct result of former President Muhammadu Buhari’s disregard for the World Bank’s recommendation to end the fuel subsidy. He maintained that Buhari was not to responsible for the nation’s current inflation. He questioned why, before forming a group of reliable advisors and conducting a comprehensive analysis of the situation, President Tinubu could not come up with a suitable plan of action to deal with the subsidy issue. He said in an interview with Tribune, ”What brought us to where we are today, which significantly is the removal of the Petrol subsidy. It was mooted during Buhari’s time. Buhari vindicated himself when he told a BBC Journalist why he won’t take World Bank advice. He said though the World Bank’s advice was the right dose to take to address our ailment, he is not convinced that it would solve our problem.
