Nigerian architect Kabiru Ibrahim has refuted the claim that Dangote and Bua control a monopoly in the nation’s cement distribution market. He emphasized that having too many cement companies could lead to product adulteration, which is a major drawback of intense market competition. He emphasized the need for new cement industries, but he also pointed out the difficulties in obtaining the funding necessary for them to be established and for their great practices. In his words, ”We need more cement industries but what about the resources to put the thing in place? And for them to work optimally. You see, even in nature and in every businesses, some people will have to cut a niche and they tend to occupy the whole market. And you tend to refer to it as monopoly. But the monopoly has it own good side too because there is employment and there is the reduction in proliferation of businesses.
