The Sun claims that this election is in response to the resignation of the previous occupant, David Umahi, who took a job in President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet.

The APC Congress Committee, dispatched from the National Secretariat of the party, has arrived in Ebonyi State to oversee the primary process. Professor Anthony Okorie Ani emerged as the lone candidate after the screening conducted by the committee. Only two aspirants, Princess Ann Agom-Eze and Prof. Ani, purchased forms for the primary, which will take place in Afikpo, the senatorial zone’s headquarters.

Chairman of the screening/special congress committee, Smart Iheazor, provided insights into the screening process, revealing that only Prof. Ani completed and returned his form, as well as participated in the screening. On the other hand, Agom-Eze neither submitted her form nor attended the screening, despite media announcements.

State Chairman of APC, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, assured that the party had informed security agencies to ensure a smooth and secure primary election. He expressed confidence that the selected candidate would secure victory in the February bye-election, in compliance with the directives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The seat for the Ebonyi South Senatorial District became vacant after Umahi’s resignation, prompting the need for the APC to determine a suitable replacement through today’s primary election. CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
