Speaking about this topic on his official X account, Bashir Ahmad claimed that Islam is a religion of compassion and peace and that it forbids harming other people.
According to Bashir Ahmad, the unfortunate incidents that occurred in Jos few days ago, which have led to a trend on the micro blogging platform where Islam and Muslims are being targeted and attacked, are not representative of Islamic teaching.
Bashir Ahmad wrote;
“Islam is a religion of peace and compassion. It does not teach harm towards others, nor does it condone destruction of any kind. The recent unfortunate events in Jos, which have led to a surge in unfortunate trends on this platform where Islam and Muslims are being targeted and attacked, are not representative of Islamic teachings. The atrocities committed in Jos are widely and totally condemned in Islam, and they are certainly not encouraged by Islamic teachings.”
Bashir Ahmad further stated that the perpetrators of such acts never linked what they committed to Islam, yet many netizens associate their actions with the entire Islam, adding that overcoming such decades-long conflicts in Jos and elsewhere require setting emotions aside and dealing with the root cause of such issues fairly.
Bashir Ahmad finally stated that;
“Generalizing and attacking a whole religion only serves to aggravate the tensions and will never be the solution.
