Whatever You May Say About Him, Obasanjo Left This Country With About $50bn In Foreign Reserves—According to Ayo Fayose

Ayo Fayose, the former governor of Ekiti State, outlined some of the admirable things Obasanjo accomplished as Nigeria’s president in a video that TVC released. He said, “Obasanjo left this country; whatever you may say about him, he left with about 50 billion dollars in foreign reserves.” He continued by saying that regardless of what people may think of the former president Obasanjo, he has accomplished more than any other Nigerian leader. Speaking further, Ayo Fayose expressed satisfaction and pleasure with the state of Nigeria under former President Obasanjo. He further stated, “With all respect, when Muhammad Buhari was in office, up until the end of his second tenure, he was still blaming Goodluck Jonathan, the past administration of the PDP under Yaradua; he was still blaming them.”

Today, even the excess crude account is completely depleted, nothing is supporting Nigeria’s spending in dollars; maybe Nigerians don’t know that. It is when you have certain levels of foreign reserves that can support your spending, the credibility of your currency, and all that, but where is the foreign reserve?
