This appointment was announced by the commission’s Executive Secretary, Dr. Muhammad Sani Idris, during a visit to her palace in Lagos.
The appointment aims to leverage Tinubu-Ojo’s influence to promote education and support for Nigeria’s Almajiri and out-of-school children, who are among the country’s most vulnerable populations.
The commission’s spokesperson, Nura Muhammad, released a statement from Abuja detailing the appointment and Tinubu-Ojo’s reaction.
Idris highlighted Tinubu-Ojo’s dedication to community service, particularly her longstanding efforts to aid disadvantaged groups.
He noted that her experience as a leader among Nigeria’s market women uniquely positions her to understand the social and economic challenges faced by underserved communities.
He praised her work in empowering women in trade, fostering commerce, and advocating for better access to resources, all of which align with the commission’s mission to uplift marginalized groups.
In response to the honor, Tinubu-Ojo expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as Ambassador for the commission.
She emphasized her commitment to tackling the challenges facing Nigeria’s Almajiri children and other out-of-school youth, describing the appointment as a personal mission.
“Chief Tinubu-Ojo expressed excitement and gratitude for the honour, pledging to alleviate the plight of these vulnerable Nigerians,” the statement read.
Tinubu-Ojo acknowledged the efforts of Dr. Idris, commending him for his commitment to improving education and social support in Nigeria.
“She commended the Executive Secretary for his service to Nigeria, and prayed for him to succeed in the task ahead,” the statement added.
