The Commander of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, has commended troops for their commitment and bravery in the ongoing military offensive, Operation Lafiyan Jamaa.
According to a statement released on Friday by the Brigade’s Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Captain Oni Olubodunde, the large-scale operation was being conducted across all 16 Local Government Areas of Taraba State.
Its primary objective, as stated by him, is to dismantle bandits’ networks infiltrating the state from neighboring regions and to restore peace, allowing residents to resume their daily activities, particularly farming without fear.
“During a visit to Andami in Karim Lamido Local Government Area, General Uwa addressed troops after a successful clearance operation that targeted multiple bandit hideouts.
“The operation led to the discovery and destruction of abandoned camps in Komodoro, Ginarunbu, Chibi, Chikum, Bitriklin, Mashigi Kirya, Jamaga, and Wagal villages, significantly weakening criminal activities in the area,” he stated.
Applauding the troops for their resilience, General Uwa urged them to maintain their momentum.
“The successes recorded so far are a testament to your dedication and professionalism.
“However, we must not relent. We must remain vigilant, decisive, and proactive in ensuring that Taraba State remains unsafe for criminals,” he stated.
Reaffirming the Nigerian Army’s commitment to securing Taraba and beyond, the Brigade Commander called on the public to support security efforts by providing credible intelligence that could aid ongoing operations.
