Bimbo Ademoye Demands Removal of Copyright Claim Blocking Her Movie Earnings

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Bimbo Ademoye has expressed strong frustration after an individual allegedly filed a copyright claim on a song used in her YouTube movie, Where Love Lives, resulting in the demonetisation of the film.

The movie, which was released in December 2025, has amassed over 18 million views on YouTube. According to Ademoye, the individual not only claimed ownership of the song used in the film but also allegedly uploaded the same track on Spotify and other streaming platforms, presenting himself as the original composer.

Taking to her Instagram page, Ademoye issued a public ultimatum, demanding that the copyright claim be removed within a short timeframe. She maintained that she fully owns the rights to the song and accused the individual of attempting to profit from her work.

“I woke up to my hard work wanting to be stolen from me,” she wrote. “A song I completely own the rights to was taken, uploaded, and credited to someone else, blocking me from earning from my own movie.”

The actress warned that failure to reverse the copyright claim would have serious consequences, adding that this was not the first time she had encountered such an issue. She referenced a previous dispute involving another individual, stating that she remains determined to protect her intellectual property.

Ademoye called on members of the public with information about the alleged copyright claimant to come forward, stressing that she would not allow her work to be unlawfully taken or monetised by others.

The incident has since sparked conversations online about copyright abuse, content ownership, and intellectual property protection in Nigeria’s film and creative industry.
