Foxnews reports that Israeli security authorities detained seven Israeli nationals on suspicion of obtaining critical intelligence for Iran on Monday after announcing that they had broken up an Iranian spy network operating within Israel. Following a cooperative investigation by the Israeli Police and the security agency Shin Bet in Israel, the arrests were made. It was discovered that the suspects, which included two children, were gathering data on Israel’s Iron Dome defensive system, air force and naval facilities, and other military and energy infrastructure.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
The arrested individuals, identified as Aziz Nisanov, Alexander Sedykov, Vyacheslav Gushchin, Yevgeny Yoffe, and Yigal Nissan, allegedly conducted espionage on behalf of Iranian agents code-named “Elkhan” and “Orkhan.” They reportedly used sophisticated equipment to photograph critical infrastructure in exchange for hundreds of thousands of dollars, some of which was paid in cryptocurrency. A power station in Hadera, one of Israel’s largest, was a key target of the espionage operation.
In addition to gathering intelligence on military and energy sites, the suspects were accused of spying on specific Israeli citizens. Israeli authorities arrested some of the suspects while they were conducting surveillance on a citizen believed to be the target of a planned Iranian attack.
“The group’s activities caused significant harm to Israel’s national security,” a senior Shin Bet official said, underscoring the potential dangers posed by the information provided to Iran.
