A prominent figure within Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has launched a fiery and controversial broadside against the country’s thriving community of skit makers.
In a scathing social media post, Igbokwe dismissed the popular online entertainers as purveyors of “compound illiteracy” who are flooding platforms with low-quality content. He controversially claimed these creators “have no brain to think” and are merely selling their ignorance to a public audience.
The politician’s critique did not offer specific examples but framed the issue as a degradation of social media by “all kinds of people, the good, the bad, and the ugly.” His final piece of advice was a blunt directive: “Go to school first!”
The outburst is likely to fuel ongoing debates about content standards, creative expression, and the perceived value of digital entertainment in Nigeria’s vibrant media landscape.
