Siminalayi Fubara gave Martin Amaewhule and 26 other people from the Assembly Quarters seven days in response to the Rivers Crisis.

Speaking at a press conference in Port Harcourt on Thursday, ITSGL President General, Chizy Enyi Esq., criticized the continued occupation of the quarters by the lawmakers, led by Martin Amaewhule, despite their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to Enyi, their defection on December 11, 2023, automatically cost them their seats in the Rivers State House of Assembly as stipulated by Section 109 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

According to Vanguard, he insisted they had no legal right to remain in the Assembly quarters and urged Fubara to take immediate action.

“The matter before Justice Omotosho was not about the legitimacy of Amaewhule and others as lawmakers.

If it were, why would the National Assembly be involved?” Enyi questioned.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the governor’s inaction, ITSGL warned that if the lawmakers were not evicted within the stipulated period, the group would take legal action against the state government.

“We cannot sit back and watch illegality thrive.

The governor must act swiftly to reclaim the properties of the Rivers State Assembly,” Enyi stated.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
