Chairman Tajudeen Lawal clarified that the only meeting took place in December 2020 at Bisi Akande’s residence, attended by President Bola Tinubu. Lawal emphasized that the agreement, drafted by Aregbesola, included an automatic ticket for Adegboyega Oyetola with autonomy in governance. However, Aregbesola allegedly violated this pact by supporting Moshood Adeoti during the primaries, filing multiple court cases against Oyetola, and sponsoring alternative candidates in the governorship election.

According to Vanguard, Lawal criticized Aregbesola’s alleged anti-party activities and questioned the delay in addressing their petitions by the national leadership. The APC accused Aregbesola of contributing to the party’s loss in the governorship election due to support from the PDP and alleged interference through the Civil Defence.

Regarding Aregbesola’s claim of three years of reconciliation efforts, the APC questioned the timeline, pointing to Aregbesola’s actions, including the creation of TOP and other controversies. Lawal concluded by cautioning APC members to be vigilant, stating that Aregbesola’s intentions might not be in the party’s best interest.

The statement partly reads: “But during the primaries, Aregbesola sponsored Moshood Adeoti against Oyetola contrary to the agreement reached. Oyetola won the election by 222,169 votes against Adeoti’s 12,921 votes. The same Aregbesola went to court with Adeoti to challenge the outcome of the primary. He also sponsored 10 different cases in various courts to challenge the nomination of Oyetola as the candidate of the APC.”

“Before then, he held a parallel congress and pushed unsuccessfully to have a validly elected chairman of the party replaced with his factional chairman.”

“As if that was not enough, Aregbesola went ahead to sponsor three different candidates against Oyetola in the governorship election. So, who betrayed each other? You be the judge.”CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
