Tinubu tells Bisi Akande: Baba, you said I should run for presidency, what about my health challenges?

Bisi Akande, the former governor of Osun State, has claimed that the 2020 #EndSARS demonstration was a conspiracy to thwart President Bola Tinubu’s political aspirations. In an interview with Edmund Obilo on State Affairs, Akande asserted that the demonstration was “made in America” and carried out by the “Obidient” movement in an attempt to undermine Tinubu.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

“EndSARS was aimed and designed to be the end of Tinubu. The Obidients were behind it,” Akande alleged. He further claimed that the movement was well-funded from the U.S. and that its organizers later joined different political parties after failing to form one.

The #EndSARS protest was a mass movement against police brutality, particularly by the now-disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). The demonstrations took place across major Nigerian cities, leading to widespread demands for police reforms.

Akande also revealed how he convinced Tinubu to run for the 2023 presidency despite his financial concerns and health challenges. He recalled Tinubu initially hesitating, questioning his ability to fund a presidential campaign. However, Akande persuaded him using Yoruba tradition, stating that Yoruba people needed a leader to represent them at the highest level.

“When you want to worship the deity, you take the biggest sacrifice,” Akande told Tinubu. He assured Tinubu that he would recover from his health issues in time to contest. Tinubu eventually declared his candidacy and won the election.

According to Vanguard News reports, Akande said: Tinubu later asked him, “Baba, you now say I should run. What about this, my leg?” referring to his health challenges. Akande assured him, “Go and do it. There is still time. You will heal in six months.”CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
