Beatrice, alongside her husband Ike Ekweremadu and medical professional Obinna Obeta, was convicted in 2022 for conspiring to exploit a young Nigerian boy for organ harvesting. The boy, who had been selling goods on the streets of Lagos, was reportedly lured to the UK under false pretenses with the promise of a better life, only to be coerced into donating an organ for the Ekweremadu couple’s ailing daughter, Sophia.

Following the conviction, Ike Ekweremadu received a sentence of 10 years in prison, while Beatrice was handed a six-year term. Despite the serious nature of the charges, Beatrice had pleaded for leniency during the trial, citing health concerns and family responsibilities.

Her sentence was ultimately reduced to six years, which she has now completed.

Her release has been met with celebration in Enugu State, where the Ekweremadu family has a large base of supporters. Many in the state view the release as a hopeful sign for Ike Ekweremadu’s eventual freedom, with numerous well-wishers offering prayers for his release in the near future.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
