Although the Ivorian was thought to be cancer-free, a non-Hodgkin lymphoma diagnosis was made in December 2020. The news was released by the Turkish club through a statement.
“Our Technical Director Souleymane Bamba, who became ill prior to yesterday’s Manisa Football Club match, was transported to Manisa Celal Bayar University Hospital, where he tragically lost his fight for life,” the statement stated. “We send our sympathies to his family and the community.”
