An emotional Nigerian man has sparked heavy online reactions following reports of the alleged death of street-pop singer Destiny Boy, using the moment to raise alarm over the silent suffering of young music stars.
In a now-viral clip circulating on X, the man claimed the 22-year-old artist was desperately trying to reclaim relevance before tragedy allegedly struck. According to him, Destiny Boy was said to have passed away under mysterious circumstances linked to a traditional setting—just when he was attempting a comeback.
Fighting back tears, the speaker questioned Nigeria’s habit of offering help too late, asking pointedly whether support only comes after an artist is gone.
“Must Lyta also die before people act?” he asked.
He lamented how cruel the spotlight can be, especially for young talents who once tasted fame and money but later struggled to adapt when things went south. According to him, instead of compassion, such artists often become targets of ridicule.
Using the moment to plead publicly, he begged industry heavyweight Olamide to extend a hand to Lyta—if not fully, then even a single verse could change his story.
Lyta, who was once signed to Olamide’s YBNL label, parted ways with the camp years ago under controversial circumstances, reportedly following comments that damaged the relationship beyond repair.

The emotional outburst has since ignited intense discussions online about mental health, abandonment, and how quickly the industry forgets its own—until it’s too late.
