Nigerian singer Paul Okoye has stirred intense debate on social media after posting a provocative message about feminists on his Instagram story.
The music star questioned why many women who identify as feminists appear to be over 30, adding that they often talk about having “inner beauty.” The remark quickly caught attention online, triggering a wave of reactions from fans and critics alike.
While some social media users agreed with his opinion, many others pushed back, pointing out that Paul himself is over 40 and accusing him of making unnecessary and insensitive comments. Several users also mocked his recent music output, while others suggested he was projecting personal frustrations rather than addressing feminism itself.
Paul’s statement is not the first time a public figure has commented on the topic. In the past, businesswoman Wanneka has advised women to embrace independence without rejecting relationships with men. Author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has also warned against using feminism as an excuse for cruelty or entitlement.

Additionally, senior police officer Dolapo Badmus has previously argued that many people who claim to support feminism do not fully understand its meaning, especially when it comes to equality in marriage and partnerships.
Paul Okoye himself has a history of making bold and sometimes polarizing remarks about relationships, gender roles, and society, often drawing attention and controversy whenever he speaks out.
