Nollywood actress Zainab Bakare has fired back at critics who accused her of “acting” during the service of songs for her late colleague, Allwell Ademola.
A video circulating on social media showed Bakare in tears at the ceremony, prompting some online users to claim she was exaggerating her emotions for the camera.
Responding on her Instagram page, Bakare described the comments as inappropriate, noting that people were attacking her during a moment of mourning.
“Y’all coming for me and tagging me with your full chest that I was acting for the camera… I will hold till we bury her before I give you a taste of your medicine,” she wrote.
The actress emphasized that such remarks were insensitive and took advantage of the grief surrounding Ademola’s death. She added, “Koni da fun yin!!! Y’all are using the death of a loved one to dish out your oriburuku. We shall see!!!”
Allwell Ademola was laid to rest on Friday, January 9, at Atan Cemetery in Yaba, Lagos State, with family, friends, and colleagues from Nollywood in attendance to pay their final respects.
