Doctor Critiques Bimbo Ademoye’s Movie Over Misrepresentation of Surrogacy

Renowned fertility scientist Dr. Oriade Kehinde Samuel has raised concerns about the portrayal of surrogacy in Nollywood actress and producer Bimbo Ademoye’s recent blockbuster, Where Love Lives.

The romantic comedy, released on December 24, 2025, exclusively on Ademoye’s YouTube channel, went viral, amassing over 6 million views in just 72 hours.

In a video circulating online, Dr. Samuel advised filmmakers to consult professionals when depicting specialized fields, warning that inaccurate portrayals can misinform audiences. His critique focused on a scene where a husband surprises his wife with a dinner involving their surrogate, leading to a confrontation before revealing the surrogate’s true role.

Dr. Samuel stated, “There is nowhere that a surrogate and the intending parents would meet or have a dinner date because the identity of both parties is at risk.” He explained that standard surrogacy practices, particularly gestational surrogacy common in Nigeria and abroad, prioritize anonymity to protect privacy, prevent emotional complications, reduce legal risks, and avoid exploitation. Typically, the surrogate delivers the child, who is then handed over through a clinic, agency representative, or legal process.

The fertility expert urged Ademoye to address the misleading impression created by the scene, describing it as a significant error that could confuse viewers about how surrogacy works in reality.
