Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who represents Abia North in the National Assembly, has insisted that his electoral successes are rooted in popular support rather than manipulation of the voting process.
Speaking with journalists at his residence in Igbere on Thursday, the former Abia State governor expressed confidence that his constituents would once again return him to office, stressing that his political career has been built on the genuine choices of voters.
Kalu was responding to recent comments credited to Governor Alex Otti regarding election rigging in Abia State. He dismissed any suggestion that his past victories were products of malpractice, stating that both his tenure as governor and his emergence as senator reflected the will of the electorate.
According to him, he has never engaged in rigging and would not endorse any action that undermines democratic principles, emphasizing that credible elections remain the foundation of good governance.
The senator also accused the Abia State governor of permitting his media team to launch attacks against him on social media platforms, a development he described as unnecessary and distracting.
Kalu’s remarks add to the growing political exchanges in Abia State as key figures position themselves ahead of future electoral contests.
