Babcock University Dismisses Fire Rumours, Confirms January 12 Resumption

Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo in Ogun State, has firmly denied online reports alleging a fire outbreak on its campus and a subsequent postponement of the second semester resumption.

In a statement released on Thursday, the institution described the claims as false, misleading, and deliberately designed to cause panic. The clarification was issued by the Associate Vice President for Communications, Media and Branding, Dr Johnson Akintayo.

The university stressed that no fire incident occurred on any of its campuses and that academic activities remain on course. It confirmed that students are expected to resume as earlier scheduled, beginning Monday, January 12, 2026, in accordance with the approved academic calendar.

According to the statement, the campus environment is safe, secure, and fully prepared to welcome students between January 12 and January 14, 2026. Management emphasized that there has been no alteration to the resumption timeline previously communicated to students and parents.

Babcock University also cautioned against the spread of unverified information, urging the public to ignore reports circulated through unofficial platforms. The institution reiterated that all authentic updates are released only through its recognized communication channels.

The university advised students, parents, and guardians to rely solely on official announcements and disregard the circulating story, which it described as entirely baseless and detached from reality.
