Night Ambush Fails: Police Snatch 76 Children Back From Kidnappers in Kaduna

A suspected kidnap plot in Kaduna State was stopped in its tracks after police operatives rescued 76 children during a late-night operation in the Kasuwan Magani area.

The intervention followed intelligence reports that a group of criminals was preparing to intercept vehicles transporting children through the community. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, officers from the Kaduna State Police Command were deployed to the location on the evening of January 5.

On arrival, the security team confronted the suspects and successfully disrupted their plans. The operation led to the safe recovery of 76 children, both boys and girls, estimated to be between seven and 20 years old. Authorities confirmed that none of the children sustained injuries during the rescue.

Three young men were arrested at the scene. Initial findings suggest the suspects were moving the children across different parts of the country, allegedly to engage them in forced labour and domestic work.

The rescued children are currently under protective care at the police command headquarters while efforts are ongoing to identify and reunite them with their families. Meanwhile, investigators are expanding the probe to uncover the full network behind the attempted crime and track down any accomplices.

Police officials reaffirmed their resolve to safeguard citizens, especially vulnerable children, and appealed to the public to continue sharing timely information that can help prevent criminal activities before they occur.
