Former Kano State governor and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has declared himself politically “priceless,” insisting that financial inducements have never influenced his decisions.
Kwankwaso made the remarks while addressing supporters at his Kano residence, amid rising tension over reports of a possible defection by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. He said the widespread belief that politicians can easily be bought does not apply to him, stressing that his political choices are guided by principle, not money.
According to the former governor, if personal gain were his priority, he already knows where he would have positioned himself politically. He added that no individual or group has ever attempted to purchase his loyalty, describing himself as a rare exception in the political space.
Kwankwaso also extended the “priceless” label to members of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, noting that his supporters have consistently resisted financial pressure during elections and remain committed to ideals rather than incentives.
In earlier comments, the former NNPP presidential candidate had criticized any move that would see the Kano governorship handed back to political rivals, expressing displeasure over the possibility of a shift toward the APC. However, in his latest address, he urged his followers to remain calm and patient, reminding them that political power is temporary and circumstances can change at any moment.
He emphasized that destiny ultimately lies beyond human control, adding that unexpected turns are part of politics. His comments come against the backdrop of growing speculation about a widening rift between him and Governor Yusuf, once close allies, over the governor’s alleged plans to change party allegiance.
