Support has continued to grow for Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, as his second-term ambition received a major boost on Tuesday.
This followed an open endorsement by leaders and residents of Eneka, the community of the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike.
The endorsement was made during the 2025 Eneka Day Celebration held at State Primary School One, Eneka, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area. The event had the theme “Unity: Our Strength for Progress.”
At the gathering, the Eneka people publicly declared their backing for Governor Fubara ahead of the 2027 general elections.
They stated clearly that political authority in Rivers State rests with the current governor, stressing that Fubara is the recognised and sitting leader of the state.
The event attracted a large crowd. Present were traditional rulers, community leaders, youth groups, women associations, and residents drawn from the eleven communities that make up the Eneka clan. A vote of confidence was passed on the governor during the celebration.
Speaking on behalf of the clan, the Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC) of Eneka, Lawson Chukwu, said the people remained solidly behind Governor Fubara.
He praised the administration for visible development efforts within the area and called for more government attention.
Chukwu appealed to the governor to address the poor state of internal roads in the community. He noted that improved road access would ease daily movement and support local economic activities.
He also made a case for the elevation of the Eneka traditional stool from second-class to first-class status, describing it as important for unity and cultural pride.
Also speaking, the political leader of Eneka clan and President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Senator John Azuta-Mbata, declared that the people recognise only one governor in Rivers State. He affirmed that Siminalayi Fubara remains the legitimate occupant of the office.
Mbata assured the governor of the community’s continued support and friendship. He described the bond between Eneka and the Fubara administration as stable and unwavering.
Governor Fubara, in his response, thanked the people for the endorsement and for standing together as one. He said the unity displayed by the community would make governance easier and more effective.
Addressing their requests, the governor acknowledged the poor condition of several internal roads. He explained that many of them were damaged by heavy-duty trucks used during flyover construction projects.
“I promise you significant and reasonable intervention to improve road access within your clan and enhance your quality of life.”
He also directed immediate action on the traditional stool upgrade request.
“I’m directing the Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Community Affairs to immediately commence the process for the upgrade of the Eneka traditional stool from second-class to first-class status.”
Governor Fubara stressed that peace and unity within communities remain key to sustainable development.
“A peaceful and united community makes it easier for the government to deliver meaningful development without internal conflict,” he said.
