The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the provisional list of governorship and deputy governorship candidates for the June 20, 2026, Ekiti state election.
INEC said the provisional list features candidates from 12 political parties, with the All Progressives Congress (APC) fielding Governor Biodun Oyebanji with Monisade Afuye as his running mate.
Other candidates include Opeyemi Falegan of the Accord Party, who is running with Omoyemi Olaleye. Akande Oluwasegun of the African Action Congress is contesting with Oluwasanmi Fajuyigbe as deputy.
Ayodeji Ojo of the Action Democratic Party is also on the list, with Itunu Ibitoye as his running mate. The African Democratic Congress is presenting Oluwadare Bejide and Paul Olowoyeye.
The Action People’s Party is fielding Bidemi Awogbemi and Akinyemi Adewumi. Other political parties listed include the Allied People’s Movement, Labour Party, New Nigeria People’s Party, People’s Redemption Party, Young Progressive Party and Zenith Labour Party.
However, candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party were absent from the provisional list.
INEC said it will update the provisional list on January 19, 2026, in line with the Electoral Act 2022, after parties conclude substitutions and resolve outstanding legal issues ahead of the election.
