“A call to serve” – Obasa’s son declares after assuming office as LG chairman in Lagos

Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa, son of the Lagos Assembly Speaker, says his emergence as chairman of Agege local government marks “a call to serve” the people with commitment and responsibility.

Obasa spoke after taking the oath of office as executive chairman of Agege Local Government, following his swearing-in by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in Lagos.

He said his assumption of office represents a new chapter for the council and a renewed mandate to deepen inclusive governance and accelerate development at the grassroots.

Obasa said his period as acting chairman was guided by service and inclusivity, adding that he would consolidate existing gains and expand programmes that directly impact residents.

“I reaffirm my commitment to empowerment, progress and inclusion, and to people-focused governance for the people of Agege,” he said.

He described his inauguration as a collective moment for the council and its residents, pledging to work with stakeholders to deliver measurable outcomes.

Obasa thanked residents and party leaders for the trust reposed in him, saying the council would prioritise policies that improve welfare and local infrastructure.

He added that the administration would pursue a vision of shared progress and sustainable development across communities in Agege.
