JUST IN: Amaechi offers to assist Tinubu’s govt amid escalating terror attacks

Former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has stated that he is willing to assist the federal government in curbing the surge in killings, kidnappings, and terrorist attacks across the country.
Amaechi said his experience in Rivers state, where he served as governor, shows that effective solutions are possible.
His words: “We did it in Rivers State; it can be done in the country. We are prepared to help if you request help.”
Amaechi said the government has not provided adequate protection for citizens, adding that the rise in mass abductions and coordinated assaults on communities reflects a deteriorating security situation.
He cited the recent killings in Plateau, the reported kidnapping of secondary schoolgirls in Kebbi, the ambush on soldiers in Borno that led to the abduction and killing of Brigadier-General M. Uba, the attack on a church in Kwara, and the kidnapping of a priest, Bobbo Paschal, in Kaduna.
Amaechi urged the federal government to “step up its game”, strengthen military intelligence, sharpen counter-terrorism response mechanisms and meet citizens’ expectations.
His words: “To Mr President: your primary assignment is the security of lives and property.
“Enough of looking the other way or issuing watery statements of condemnation. Prioritising a summit or jetting out for whatever reason when Nigerians are dying can never be the trait of a good leader.”
He said the moment requires decisive leadership, improved intelligence coordination and accountability.
