Adamawa ADC Chairman, Shehu Kambile, has stepped down as Special Assistant to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.
The party leader announced his resignation in a statement issued on Wednesday in Yola, the Adamawa State capital.
Kambile explained that his decision was strategic and meant to help him concentrate fully on his duties as chairman of the African Democratic Congress in the state.
He said his appointment was made through the Inter-Party Advisory Council framework, which was established to promote national unity and cooperation among political parties.
According to him, the move became necessary to enable him to build a strong and vibrant opposition in Adamawa.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve Gov. Fintiri but have to step aside and focus on my primary mandate of building a robust and effective opposition. We crave an opposition that can provide a credible alternative for the people,” he said.
Kambile expressed appreciation to Governor Fintiri for the chance to serve in his administration and praised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for his consistent efforts in promoting inclusive political participation.
However, the former aide urged members of the African Democratic Congress to work together to strengthen the party and ensure it provides a viable political option for the people of Adamawa State.
