Obi Declares Who Will Win Anambra Guber Election, Advises Others Not to Waste Money

Comrade Osita Obi, the Convener of the Recover Nigeria Project, has declared that Governor Chukwuma Soludo will win the upcoming Anambra governorship election without any serious challenge.

Obi said it would be a waste of time and money for other candidates to continue spending heavily on campaigns when, according to him, the outcome is already clear.

He advised them instead to contribute their funds to the Anambra Security Trust Fund rather than “waste” resources on a race they cannot win.

Speaking in an interview while assessing the political climate ahead of Saturday’s election, Obi praised Soludo’s administration for restoring order in the state capital and improving revenue generation.

He noted that the governor had succeeded in cleaning up Awka and removing touts who used to dominate major revenue points.

“Honestly, there is nothing that will work against him. He has done marvelously well, fantastically well. Awka now has the resemblance of a state capital,” he said.

He further explained that before Soludo took over, a large portion of Anambra’s internally generated revenue went into private pockets through illegal collections and extortion.

According to him, the present administration has changed that system.

“This is the first time in Anambra State that touts have not collected revenue. Previously, 70 per cent of revenue collected in Anambra State went to the private sector. But when this man came, he said no — you must pay government directly. That is what is obtainable today,” he stated.

Obi admitted that the governor may have made a few mistakes but maintained that his performance was far above average.

“The governor is human. He may make one mistake or the other, but I rate him 70 per cent. When you do good, I praise you; when you do wrong, I criticise you — constructively.”

He also disclosed that despite his personal loss to one of the governor’s projects, he still supports Soludo for the greater good of the state.

“If there is any person in Anambra State today that will go after Soludo, it is me. My building was demolished to build the Governor’s Lodge. But we are talking about the greater good of our state. Honestly, Soludo has performed.”

Comrade Obi reaffirmed that he had earlier told other governorship aspirants to channel their campaign funds to security and community development instead of contesting against a strong and popular incumbent.
