
One hundred and ninety citizens of Ebonyi State displaced from the Ilaje area of Lagos arrived Iziogo in Izzi Local Government Area of the state on Thursday night.
The displaced victims arrived at the palace of the traditional ruler representing Izzi Local Government Area, Cyprian Nwekee, in Iziogo.
Addressing the victims, the traditional ruler, described their displacement as sad, saying that thoug no life was lost, they need to be properly resettled and financially empowered to enable them successfully reintegrate back into the society.
He revealed that the affected persons lived in the heart of Lagos before their forceful evacuation, and appealed to the government at all levels for financial assistance for the displaced victims.
One of the displaced victims, Mrs Ogbonna, who said she had lived in Lagos for over 20 years, and has 10 children.
She lamented that life would be difficult unless they are assisted by public-spirited individuals, groups and the state government to pick up their lives.
